Patient Education

Patient education is critical for a success treatment outcome. If you tell a paiteint, he or she may remember 20% of what you say. If you also give the patient written information, the recall rate increases to 50%. That's still not great - but an improvement.

Writing patient education material is not easy. Most doctors forget their audience. To be successful, the handouts should be written for people reading at a fifth grade level. It's also a time consuming activity.
